Hana stood silently on the shore watching out over the water, the sun was getting low on the horizon leaving an orange path across the surface of the water as if a road leading to some wonderful place. Hana smiled to herself She loved sun sets and sun rizes she made it her business to always watch them it reminded her that she still felt things like happiness.
She watched in wonder as a dolphin breached the surface whistling loudly, followed soon after by several others. So Beautiful She thought to herself as the pod of dolphins played just a few yards from the shore before vanishing below the surface and ending there show.
Her T-shirt fluttered in the light breeze as she continued to watch the sun set. She would have to do some not so beautiful things tonight to keep her town safe, but for now she could forget everything and just indulge in the beauty of the setting sun.

Sitting on a rather large rock not so very far away, Kin smiled to himself as he stared out at the waters, watching seagulls and such diving back and forth in the twilight hours, trying to catch their last meals of the day. He could feel the gentle breeze, slightly salty in both smell and taste, blowing through his hair and against his shirt so very softly as he slowly shuffled a deck of cards, constantly counting them, letting various ones disappear into the deck before shuffling a few more times, bringing them back to the top; he enjoyed cycling the aces, from heart to diamond, then to club, and finally to spade. It was one of the few things he felt he had real control over.
His backpack sat not very far from him, all of his goods save his money stuffed inside after a long day's performance; it wasn't often the middle-aged magician got more then two gigs in a day, and yet, he'd had three on this one. Two scheduled and one not, of course; he had simply been in costume when walking through the park earlier in the day, and some children had begged him for a show. He couldn't very well say no to children, and for an hour and a half he'd cycled through many different card and coin tricks, reveling in the 'oohs' and 'ahhs'.
Now, with the sun starting to go down, the tricks were his own to share, out of his magician's garb and back in his street clothing, where he simply looked like another guy with a deck of cards. An odd thing to carry around, one would think, unless you were either a professional gambler or just bored. He hoped he just looked bored.

Her eyes shifted from one side of the beach to the other, many people were packing their things and preparing to leave. She could hear the chattering of people as the conversed on the way to their cars. She smiled everyone seemed so happy, she was sure no of them knew the constant danger that their life was in.
Hana's eyes settled on a man sitting on a rock , he wasn't preparing to go home like everyone else, perhaps he was a star gazer. This was the first thought that crossed her mind. She couldnt see any other reason for him to stay at the beach after dark especially since he was alone. If he was with a woman she could think of antoher few reasons for staying out here.
She tooks a few steps into the lapping waves peering out as the last rays of the sun shone brightly over the horizon. The cold water licking her ankles. It was a soothing feeling, as she wondered what would be in store for her tonight.]

As the sunlight began to fade away, taking with itself his ability to see his cards if he lost them, Kin slowly tucked them into a small side pocket on his backpack, slowly sliding off the rock; there was another person out there in the water, illuminated by the moon shining over the rocking waters and the iridescent sands. His socks and shoes were left on the rock with the backpack as he slipped his shirt off, something that would have revealed his severely lean body were the sun still out, and rolled up the legs of his jeans to his knees; with his unofficial swimsuit now ready, the slowly walked past the woman, giving her a slow wave, before diving into the water.
If Kin had to swim, he preferred to do under moon and star light, where the reflected lights wouldn't blind him after coming up from the waters; it took his body a few minutes, but in time, he stopped quivering and shivering in the water and simply stared into the sky, enjoying the feeling of the light pressure squeezing his chest as he held his breath too long above water.
"The skies are beautiful at night, aren't they?" He only spoke at a usual tone, not a yell or a whisper, but he knew in the silent night his voice would carry the many yards to the beach, where he thought the woman still stood ankle-deep in water; he hadn't been paying attention, so was unsure if she had gone into the water as well.

Hanako watched the man as he started swimming, and wondered why one would swim at night in the ocean, since she always thought that that was when sharks and other dangerous things were more active. She heard the man speak to her, and she looked out in the direction of his voice, it was pretty dark now but she could see very well. It was a perks of her hobby, in order to hunt those that dwell in darkness you must be able to see through the veil.
"The skies are always beautiful, just some times are more obvious than others" she replied in response.]

Kin nodded slowly at the lady's words; they were round-about, but it certainly sounded like she agreed. With a shrug, Kin dove beneath the water a few times more, getting himself good and thoroughly soaked, before making his way again to the beach; when the water would only reach half way up his calves, he turned to face the water and plopped down again, sinking an inch into the soft muddy sand and simply sitting down, staring outward.
He loved the night time, when the stars and moon were out, and you could find shapes in the sky... and in the darkness, the entire sky could be a man's mask, hiding away his real nature and letting him be whoever he wanted, including just another beach bum. He shivered again as his body began to get used to the duality of being wet and drying off, the cold water and warm night air not too far off from being close, but far enough apart that Kin would be feeling it.
"My name is Kin; may I ask yours?" He smiled gently as he turned his head to look at her as best he could in the moonlight; she wasn't very difficult to make out, standing ankle deep in moon lit waters, but the darkness still shrouded the specifics of her appearance in small clouds of mystery.

Hana's Gaze shifted to the man who had revealed his name as Kin. Her hazel colored orbs reflected the glistening moonlight as she listened to the words that He spoke. "Kin?" she asked as if wondering why this person would bother to introduce himself to someone He did not know.
"My name...Is Ec..err...Hana! Nice to meet you" she stated as she shifted so that she was facing him and bowed respectfully. She sighed she had almost given him that name...would she have tried to kill him over her own stupid mistake? She pondered as she stood straight again and peered back out over the ocean. She only gave the name Echo to those she was about to kill, she wondered if something about this man triggered the response automatically. Could he be dangerous? she thought as she watched the moonlight caressing the surface of the water.

"Indeed, nice to meet you, too, Hana." Kin knew his smile couldn't be seen in the dark, so he followed her bow with one of his own, though the effect was lessened by his being in the water. After a few more moments, he stood and shivered, chuckling as he made his way further up the shore, ready to be finished with the water. He had another change of clothing he could get into later, but for now, he would let himself air-dry.
"The moon is just bright enough... care for a card trick?" He knew the question came out of the blue, but something about both the night air and the lady made him a bit more talkative then usual. He shook his hands vigorously to dry them off as he walked over to the backpack, from which he drew his deck of cards. Turning to the lady, he smiled as he began shuffling his cards, the 'swishing' sounds filling the night air beneath the waves.
"I know a good number of them, though I'm sorry to say they probably aren't any you havn't seen before."

Hana listened to the man talk about showing her a card trick. She honestly wasn't interested in cards let alone tricks, but she felt that she should at least be polite because that would be the most normal course of action for a human being "Card..tricks?" she asked curiously as she walked silently back onto the shore
"ok, show me" she said with a smile her white teeth would be vaguely visible in the dim moonlight. She was cautious though she was not one to ignore the stories of strange men trying to take advantage of lone girls in dark places. Of course she was confident that if this guy tried something she'd make him useless as a man in the process.]

"Oh, excellent!" Kin smiled wide as she agreed to a trick or two; shuffling the cards remarkably quickly, Kin went through two or three casual shuffling tricks, such as making a bridge on the surface of the large rock, or shooting the cards an inch through the air from one hand to another; after a few more cycles, he turned the cards to let them face Hana and fanned them out, letting her see the edge of every card in the deck.
"Without telling me, or letting me see, which card you would like, pick one, and commit it to memory." Kin's smile broadened slightly as she took a card and looked at it briefly. "Slide the card back into the deck anywhere you'd like." He parted several cards when she indicated where she would like the card to be put, and quickly, Kin shuffled the deck twice. This was the wild card part of the trick, the one that always varied. With a smile, he drew the top card off of the deck.
"Would this be your card, Miss Hana?"
((Sorry about the mild PP'ing, but I figured since it wasn't really life-threatening, and without it we'd be doing this forever, you wouldn't mind. If you'd prefer, though, I can edit, and we can do it the long way.))

Hana watched silently as he shuffled the cards, then he asked her to pick one, which she did. Then he shuffled the card back into the deck and after a moment took the first card and asked her if it was her card. She chuckled "you must be out of practice" she stated indicating that the card revealed was not the card she had chosen originally.]

"Hm, perhaps..." Kin smiled regardless, flipping the card to look at it for a few seconds, then turned it face-down and tapped it several times against the top of the deck. Smile widening a bit, he held the card up for her to see again; the face had changed, and if he'd done it properly, was now the proper card.
"Could you look again, to be certain?"

Hana almost chuckled as her eyes caught the motions of the card being switched. It wasn't something she could miss easily like a normal person. "Hey, that is my card...heh your pretty good at that" she stated with a smile]

"Thank you; its not one of the tricker... tricks." His smile only widened slightly as he continued lightly bouncing the card in his right hand, oblivious to the fact that the ruse had been seen right through. As his delight filled him, he could feel that happiness slipping through him and into his right hand; if he held the card much longer, he wasn't too certain what would happen.
"And now, the card vanishes." He said with a smile, suddenly pivoting to the side and giving his wrist a slight flick, letting the charged card fall through the air to hit the large rock he'd been sitting on, where the small card immediately burst into flames and smoldered harmlessly.
"Sadly, I can't bring the card back from that." He joked softly, smile fading only slightly as he slid the pack of cards back into his backpack, slightly bummed at the loss of the card; there was no point to a deck of cards that only numbered 51.

Hana watched the card light on fire. She pondered who this guy really was, as she didn't notice anything being done to prepare for such a trick and cards didn't just burst into flames on there own. Hana instantly had an idea of how such a thing was possible. It would be crazy if the thought came from a normal person, but it wasn't very far fetched considering what she herself was capable of.
"how did you do that?" she asked curiously mainly because she was certain this guy wasn't normal but the question would come across like any normal person asking how the trick worked.
